Horn & Co. Analytics Receives the 2021/2022 ÖKOPROFIT Certification

Under the motto “Working Together for Sustainability,” Horn & Co. Analytics launched last year as one of 11 companies participating in the ÖKOPROFIT project.

The initiative of the Siegen-Wittgenstein district supports companies in identifying potential savings in the areas of environmental and resource management and in implementing changes within their operations. Together with experts, consumption and costs at our Hünsborn site were recorded and analyzed over the course of nearly one year.

The Horn & Co. Analytics site in Hünsborn and the Horn & Co. administrative office on Herrenfeldstraße have now received the ÖKOPROFIT Company 2021/2022 awards.

Protecting the environment, climate, and resources while saving money and preparing the company for future requirements – in line with the core idea of ÖKOPROFIT, more than 30 suggestions from our colleagues in the laboratory were reviewed – some have already been implemented or are currently in the planning stage.

Overall, the savings potential of the 11 ÖKOPROFIT companies is impressive: Together, they save almost three million kWh of energy annually, avoid nearly 24,000 tons of CO2 and 126 tons of waste, and reduce water consumption by 20 m³. The laboratory has also contributed to this positive result, for example through a new lighting concept in several sample rooms. By installing charging stations at various locations and adapting leasing policies, Horn & Co. supports the acquisition of electric or hybrid vehicles. The construction of a photovoltaic system is also planned.

“I am more than impressed by all the different measures. It clearly shows how diverse the contributions companies can make to climate protection are. It is obvious that we alone in Siegen-Wittgenstein cannot solve the climate crisis. But we can make our contribution so that the global community as a whole achieves its climate targets,” said District Administrator Andreas Müller at the closing event, which was hosted by Horn & Co. Analytics GmbH at the Technology Museum in Freudenberg. In addition to other representatives from politics and business, the Ministry for the Environment, Agriculture, Nature and Consumer Protection of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia was also present as a sponsor of the project.
