When it has to be BIG

When it has to be BIG

Since our founding in 1997, we at Tritech have been conducting corrosion tests, even though we started out very small back then. Our first test chamber, with a 400-liter capacity, was located in the storage room – a Corrotherm 610 for neutral salt spray tests. But salt spray chambers don’t like to be alone, so it was only a matter of time before more equipment arrived. The corrosion and climate testing department continued to expand steadily, leading us to expand our corrosion testing center in 2014. More chambers arrived and gradually filled the room.

More than a dozen test chambers are available for a wide range of tests, offering volumes from 300 L to 1450 L and accommodating a variety of components.

From condensation water constant climate tests and neutral salt spray tests to our super aggressor – the CASS test – and complex cyclic corrosion tests with alternating climate and spray phases, our range of testing equipment leaves little to be desired.

Each of our testing devices has its own specializations – whether in terms of test profiles or chamber geometry. Since each of our chambers and cabinets has its own “personality,” our testing devices also have individual names. Hektor, Rosi, and others mainly handle cyclic corrosion tests. In chambers and cabinets ranging from 500 L to 1450 L, we can also accommodate large and complex components such as rims, seats, radiator grilles, or frames up to 1.60 m in length.

In the pure salt spray testing area, Corrdula and her colleagues offer up to 1000 L of capacity for screws, brackets, pressure cylinders, and all other components or assemblies. For the CASS test – probably the most demanding of all salt spray tests – Carsten and Rosa are responsible, offering a maximum test chamber volume of 1450 L, with enough space for multiple rims.

Thanks to the large number of our test chambers and separately connectable solution tanks, we can also accommodate more unusual requirements, such as salt spray tests with citric acid, water mist tests, or spray tests using mixed salt solutions.

Custom-made test racks securely hold even heavy components, such as a 21” rim, in the correct testing position. A large rinsing basin, mobile tanks for test solutions, spacious work areas for sample preparation or follow-up tests, and a freight elevator for large or bulky test items complete the equipment of our new testing facility.

In April 2024, our corrosion testing center 2.0 will be further expanded with a salt spray chamber featuring a climate module and a pivoting spray system.
