On the following pages, you can learn more about the companies that shape this sector with their expertise and specialized services:
Safe transport under high temperatures. Every second counts directly at the tapping point. Our hot slag removal ensures the fast and safe transport of glowing hot slag, using specially equipped wheel loaders and tracked vehicles designed for extreme conditions. Our trained teams work in shifts and ensure that the production flow is not disrupted—around the clock, reliably and precisely.
Logistics that think ahead. The internal and external transport of slag requires experience, specialized vehicles, and well-coordinated processes. Whether hot or cold, within the plant premises or for further processing—we handle the entire transport logistics: planned, on schedule, and with perfectly matched container systems. Thanks to GPS monitoring and centralized dispatching, we maintain full control at all times, even with large volumes.
From by-product to raw material. We get the maximum out of every material: In modern facilities, we separate, crush, screen, and classify the resulting slag fractions. In doing so, we recover valuable metallic components and process mineral elements so they can be reused as secondary raw materials in construction, industry, or new steel production. Resource efficiency is our commitment, circular economy our goal.

Compliant. Documented. Responsible. Non-recyclable slag components are disposed of properly and in accordance with legal regulations. Our processes are transparent, traceable, and aligned with the applicable environmental requirements. We take care of transport, declaration, weighing slips, disposal, and all legally required documentation—all from a single source. For our customers, this means maximum security with minimal effort.
Structure. Control. Responsibility. A wide variety of by-products are generated daily in industry—from refractory demolition materials and fine-grained slag fractions to dust-like residues. To ensure these materials are handled safely, in compliance with regulations, and efficiently, we take over the complete landfill management—from the point of origin within the plant to storage at the associated landfill site.
Recording & Classification
Each material is clearly identified, sampled, and assigned directly at the plant—for complete traceability.
Storage & Interim Buffering
We store materials by type, safely and in line with processes—in boxes, on stockpiles, or in silos.
Internal Handling
Using specialized equipment such as wheel loaders, excavators, or container vehicles, we ensure efficient material movement within the operation.
Landfill Connection & Storage
Non-recyclable materials are transferred directly to the connected landfill—properly, documented, and in compliance with all legal requirements.
Regulatory Compliance Documentation
From weighing slips to disposal certificates: We handle the complete documentation in accordance with the Circular Economy Act (KrWG) and the Landfill Ordinance (DepV).
A heated matter: demolition requires expertise. For a melting process to be economically viable, upstream and downstream processes must interlock smoothly. The demolition of metallurgical vessels is a downstream process that should be carried out by trained personnel to keep disruption-related downtime to a minimum.
With modern specialized vehicles such as telescopic excavators, our team is ready to support the process in order to carry out demolition quickly and carefully, ensuring that nothing stands in the way of relining.
The demolished materials can be pre-sorted directly at the customer’s site. Coordinated handling from the point of origin to the type-specific recycling of components forms the basis for the optimal reuse of refractory demolition materials.
Used refractory materials are transformed back into valuable raw materials. In specialized processing operations, refractory demolition materials are sorted, crushed, and classified according to different material qualities. In this way, we recover high-quality secondary raw materials that can be reused in industrial processes.
Through modern facilities, precise material separation, and many years of experience, we make an important contribution to resource conservation and a sustainable circular economy.

With a fleet of specialized vehicles tailored specifically to internal operations, we offer the optimal transport solution for your goods. Our experience includes not only the transport of slag and scrap, but also semi-finished and finished products, loose bulk materials, and other residual materials that need to be moved within a steel plant. Our fleet includes, among others, tractor units for heavy-duty trailers, skip loaders and roll-off trucks, dumpers, towing vehicles, as well as numerous special-purpose vehicles.
Horn & Co. Industrial Services draws on many years of experience in integrating provided transport services into customers' logistics systems. Coordination, warehousing, and dispatching are carried out in close cooperation with the customer.

Safety and quality before tapping. What enters the melting unit must be inspected. We carry out visual and sensory inspections of scrap batches—for unwanted substances, foreign materials, or moisture. In doing so, we protect equipment, increase process safety, and maintain product quality.

Material expertise meets sorting precision. In steel production, every ton counts—but so does every gram of alloy. Our employees carry out the proper classification of delivered scrap types directly on site. This ensures that the right material enters the right batch—efficiently, quality-assured, and documented.
The right mix—at the right time and in the right place! We assemble scrap quantities according to batch specifications while ensuring efficient and flexible handling. Using modern handling technology, we move materials safely and efficiently—aligned with the requirements of furnace operations and the rhythm of the entire steel production process.
Reduce volume, increase recyclability! Before reuse, scrap is reduced in size according to material requirements—for example using shears, crushers, or cutting torches. This increases bulk density, standardizes loading behavior, and optimizes furnace performance. Directly in the steel plant—where it matters most.

Punctual and precise! Whether from the storage area to the furnace, from the handling area to the mixing facility, or back to interim storage—we transport scrap within the plant using specialized vehicles and clearly defined schedules. Our logistics processes are closely integrated with the operational rhythm of the steel plant.
