This year, we once again organized “Trainee Days” for our new trainees, which will initially span three days—one day each. The primary purpose of these events is to get to know one another, strengthen team building, and clarify organizational matters with the skilled workers of tomorrow. Another important aspect is that our new trainees also get to know parts of the company and familiarize themselves with the history of the Horn & Co. Group.
Day 1
This day focused mainly on organizational matters such as the structure of the training program and vocational school. In addition, photos were taken, and our trainees filled out personal profiles and introduced their seatmates. As a small team activity, a so-called “Marshmallow Challenge” was organized, where groups had to build the tallest possible tower out of spaghetti and top it with a marshmallow. They had 20 minutes to complete the task.
Day 2
On this day, a 10 km canoe tour on the Lahn took place, followed by refreshments. After an introduction by the organizer, we set off in three-person canoes. Fortunately, the weather cooperated, and the rain only started once we had already reached the landing point. Even our bus driver accepted our invitation and joined the tour when a spot became available. He was very enthusiastic at the end and thanked us for the wonderful day.
Day 3
During our trainee starter day (business etiquette for trainees), led by Mr. Meffert (lecturer at BBZ Siegen), our trainees learned all about everyday working life in the company and received an introduction to proper interaction with business partners and customers. Topics included questions such as: How do I greet someone properly? What should I pay attention to? How do I conduct a good phone call?
